Beloved Eponine
Amid all of the happy times together this past month, we had to say goodbye to our dear friend Eponine. She became part of our family just before Sam's first birthday, fourteen years ago. We were so excited to bring her home.We dressed her in a beautiful pink collar and she was like another little baby in our cozy home. When she'd cry at night those first few weeks I'd get up to help her settle down which often led to snuggling with her, that's what she wanted after all. I remember her sharp baby teeth scratching my skin and her sweet soft puppy ears folding over my fingers. The boys had so much fun playing with her as she got older. She loved to chase the sprinklers and water from the hose. I think her favorite was catching bubbles. Ever the good sport, she gave Adam a ride/drag around the backyard and played catch with anything the kids would throw for her. She even helped us settle Webster down when we moved to Utah. Webster, a fox terrier, loved to run away, so we would put him on a leash and hook him to Eponine and she made sure he didn't go anywhere.
Eponine is a beautiful, kind and gentle dog. She lived a good long life and brought us many happy memories. We will miss her.
